Top Richest Countries in the World 2012

Forbes Magazine recently created and published a list of top richest countries in the world. We compiled the list for our readers below. You will be amazed with most of the names included in this list, but it is a fact that some Asian countries have crossed well-established European countries and super-power America in terms of annual economy growth. Top of this list is an Arabian country called Qatar.


Qatar List of Richest Countries

The latest ranking published by Forbes Magazine put Qatar on top of the list. Their researched proved this Arabian country as the richest country based on the per capita income. Qatar is widely recognized as the third largest country in the world in terms of holder of natural gas reserves. The population of Qatar is more or less 1.7 million people. Forbes Magazine reported the per capita income of this top-ranked nation as $88,222.

Luxembourg successfully managed to reach to second position in this list. This very small country is widely recognized as the tax heaven across the globe. The per capita income of Luxembourg has been described by Forbes Magazine as $81,000. The country is the home to half a million natives only. It improved its economic conditions through strict banking secrecy laws.

Singapore is no doubt a big business hub in the world. Being an Asian country, Singapore is the first nation that reached to top 3 positions in the list of riches countries in the world. It has exceptionally well per capita income which is described as around $56,700. This city-typed country is also recognized as the manufacturing and technology hub across the world. Singapore consists of 63 islands. The country has been working on land reclamation process for the past some years and more land are is being created.

Brunei is another Asian country which got the top position in the list of top riches countries in the world. Mainly located on the Borneo Island, Brunei is at fifth position which is second riches country in Asia as per the stats of 2012. Brunei has extensive natural reserves mostly consist on natural gas and petroleum fields. Forbes Magazine’s research show that the per capita income of Brunei has reached just over $48,000. Total population of this Southeast Asian country is above 400,000.

United Arab Emirates

United Arab Emirates is also recognized as fastest emerging economy in the world. That’s why Forbes Magazine could not ignore this oil and gas resources rich Arabian country. Stats show that United Arab Emirates earn more or less 25 percent of its annual income through exporting oil and gas reserves. The overall per capita income of UAE is roughly described as $47,500. It is sharing its sea borders with Iran to the north and with top of the list Qatar to the west.

United States of America

United States of America have enjoyed the status of richest country in the world for years, mainly because of being head quarter to the richest companies in the world. But war on terrorism as well as Vietnam and Gulf war has badly affected the economy growth of this world super power. Per capita income of United States of America is described as just around $46,000 which is mainly because of recent inflation in the country.


Hong Kong

Hong Kong is yet another Asian country which secured its position among top 10 riches countries in the world. It is on 8th position. Hong Kong is worldwide recognized for its deep natural harbor as well as expansive skyline. This worldwide renowned Asian country is commonly known as a leading international financial center. Per capita income of Hong Kong is told as $45,944. It is said about Hong Kong dollar that this currency has become one of the most traded currencies (on 8th position) in the world.



Switzerland, probably the most beautiful country on Earth, is also among the richest countries on the world map. Per capita gross domestic product of Switzerland is described as $41,950. The country has a population of mostly German speaking people. Total residents of Switzerland are around 7.8 million. The country borders with Italy to the south, France to the west, Germany to the north, and Liechtenstein and Austria to the east.



The Netherlands is at the 10th position in the top riches countries in the world’s list. The country is also recognized as among the first few countries in the world which started governing their government matters through elected democratic parliament. Netherlands has per capita income of $40,973. The country has 16.8 million people on its land. This North-West European country borders with Germany to the east and Belgium to the south.
